SONOMA, Calif. (June 9, 2019) –Toby Grahovec, the 2016 Touring Car series champion, is now back in the TC title hunt after a strong double podium in TC America action this weekend at Sonoma Raceway with his No. 26 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M240iR sedan in the Blancpain GT World Challenge road racing weekend.

Grahovec, the Celina, Tex., veteran, made a valiant effort in Sunday’s 40-minute Touring Car feature as he pressured leader Cameron Evans throughout the 19-lap race. But Toby’s challenges came up short with Evans driving his BMW M240iR to a very close 0.173-second win. Grahovec also set the race’s fastest lap with one minute, 53.308 seconds (79.60 miles per hour) at the 2.385-mile, 12-turn circuit.

After an extended caution period, the race restarted on lap 16 with Grahovec ready to make a move for the lead. On the last lap, Toby set up his BMW for a straightaway drag race past Evans out of turn 12. Grahovec made his attempt towards the checkered flag but just missed out, less than two-tenths back of Evans.

On Saturday, Grahovec started fourth in the TC field and was shuffled back to seventh due to a slowing car early in the 21-lap contest. In a tremendous charge, Toby raced back up to take second to winner Steve Streimer.

The weekend’s twin second place finishes have vaulted Grahovec into the TC title chase with the series at the halfway point of eight-weekend championship. Remaining events include Portland International Raceway (July 13-14), Watkins Glen International (Aug. 30-Sept. 1), Road America (Sept. 20-22) and Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Oct. 18-20).

“Our Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M240iR was very good this weekend,” said Grahovec, who also serves as team manager for the Fast Track Racing operation. “I tried a variety of ways to get by Cameron today (Sunday), but Sonoma Raceway is his home track. He is very fast that this place. We had to settle for two runner-up finishes this weekend but definitely closed in on the point lead now. With four weekends (eight races) left, anything can happen in the TC class. I know we’ll be ready for Portland next month.”

In addition to the TC competition, Grahovec also participated in the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint racing for the first time 16 months. In Sunday’s 50-minute sprint event, Toby took home eighth in the Pro division after placing ninth in class in Saturday’s GT4 Sprint event.

The TC race highlights telecast will be televised on the CBS Sports Network on June 22 at 5 p.m. EDT with an encore presentation June 23 at midnight EDT.

At Fast VIR Circuit in GT4, TC World Challenge Action

● Texas-based team brings strong GT4 SprintX effort after 2018 Am race win

● Grahovec pursues TC race victories with BMW M240iR in sprint doubleheader

● Ohmacht, Grahovec take on double duty at VIR with Raphael/McAleer in SprintX

ALTON, Va. (April 24, 2019) – The four Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW sports car drivers make the trek to one of their favorite racing venues this weekend (April 26-28) when they compete at VIRginia International Raceway in the annual Pirelli GT4 America and TC America competition at the high-speed 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit in the pretty southern Virginia area.

The Plano, Tex.-based racing organization was honored last year as the top BMW sports car team worldwide by capturing prestigious “BMW World Sports Trophy” over all BMW customer racing squads in a special presentation in Munich, Germany last December.

Now, in 2019, the Fast Track Racing operation comes to VIR seeking more race victories after scoring the GT4 SprintX Am class win with drivers Toby Grahovec and Chris Ohmacht in the No. 92 EFI Global/Classic BMW BMW M4. Now, the same duo returns in the No. 92 VETS Indexes/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car in the GT4 America Pro-Am division in the GT4 doubleheader set for Saturday and Sunday.

The Grahovec/Ohmacht combination also won at Utah in 2018 and placed third in the GT4 SprintX Am point standings.

Both Ohmacht and Grahovec will handle double duty this weekend at VIR with the Franklin, N.J., racer also competing the GT4 Sprint doubleheader races in the No. 92 BMW M4 GT4 machine, while the Celina, Tex., driver and former TC class champion returns to the TC America action at VIR with the potent No. 26 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M240iR sports sedan. Grahovec is just four points out of the TC point lead after the season-opening weekend at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last month.

Joining Ohmacht and Grahovec in the Fast Track Racing lineup will be the pair of Justin Raphael of Franklin, N.J., and veteran pro racer Stevan McAleer of Cold Spring, N.Y., in the No. 29 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 car competing the GT4 SprintX Pro-Am category at VIR. The Raphael/McAleer combo is no stranger to the GT4 America Pro-Am podium as well with a second-place finish last year at COTA.

“I think our Fast Track Racing team is prepared for a strong weekend at VIR,” said Grahovec, who also serves as team manager for the Classic BMW contingent. “VIR is one of my favorite North America tracks. It is so much fun to drive with high-speed corners and long straights. It’s an old fashioned race course and I know our drivers really look forward to competing at VIR. Last year, Chris and I were able to score a class win in the new BMW M4 and that was a thrill. Now, we are looking for more GT4 hardware and a trip to the winner’s circle again.”

Ohmacht showed consistent improvement in his rookie season in the GT4 division last year. Now, the New Jersey driver looks for another strong performance in both the GT4 SprintX and Sprint races.

“I am looking forward to an exciting weekend at VIR,” said Ohmacht. “This is arguably my personal favorite track and we have been successful there before. It is certainly a full and very competitive field for this event. I know I will be very busy with competition in both Sprint and SprintX divisions. And I always look forward to teaming up with Toby again. We won last year together at VIR.”

Raphael and McAleer have proven to be a competitive duo at COTA and they currently rank fourth in the GT4 America SprintX East point standings entering the VIR weekend action.

“VIR is a phenomenal track and facility and I’m anxious to get back there,” said Raphael. “The GT4 competition is stellar and I expect another wild weekend on the track in the two GT4 SprintX races on Saturday and Sunday. I know that Stevan and I believe the No. 17 BMW M4 can be right in the mix at a track like VIR. The BMW M4 seems to fit the VIR circuit very well.”

McAleer, the veteran driver who is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, has been a regular competitor at VIR over the years and knows the tricky 17-corner layout very well. He expects a strong run for he and Raphael this weekend.

"It feels like we have been out of the seat for ages, so I’m excited to get back in the car at a fantastic race track on the GT4 America schedule,” said McAleer. “Justin and I currently sit fourth in the East Sprint X Championship standings and we look to fight for podiums both races this weekend. We will be trying hard to climb the points order. I also think our car should be more competitive than it was at COTA, as the BMW M4 has be strong at VIR in the past."

The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW GT4 America team begins track activity this Friday (April 26) with practice runs beginning at 9:25 am and the two 60-minute Pirelli GT4 America SprintX races scheduled for 4:50 p.m. EDT on Saturday (April 27) and 10.00 a.m. EDT on Sunday (April 28). The GT America GT4 Sprint contests are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT Saturday and 4:10 p.m. EDT Sunday.

The TC America 40-minute sprint events are set for 12:10 p.m. EDT Saturday and 8:55 a.m. EDT Sunday.

All Pirelli GT4 America and TC America races at VIR will be live streamed on www.world-challenge.com and will be televised on CBS Sports Network at a future date.

Team Wins Prestigious Worldwide BMW Sports Trophy Team of the Year

Posted by: newsla on Dec 13, 2018 - 06:32 AM

Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team recorded another successful road racing campaign in 2018 with the prestigious BMW Sports Trophy, a series championship, numerous race wins and bucket load of podium finishes with the superbly-prepared stable of BMW racing machines.

The continued achievements of BMW M235iR sedans and the debut of the BMW M4 GT4 sports cars from Fast Track Racing highlighted the Pirelli World Challenge and IMSA Continental SportsCar Challenge performances this year.

In the annual BMW Sports Trophy presentation last weekend for world standings, Classic BMW became the first American-based team to win the esteemed team championship in 2018, halting the four-year domination of the Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport organization. The combination of Fast Track Racing’s outstanding showings with the BMW M235iR (Touring Car) and BMW M4 GT4 (GTS and Grand Sport) led to the team’s honor in Munich. Placing second in the BMW Sports Trophy competition was 3Y Technology followed by Securtal Sorg Rennsport.

"After receiving the 2018 PWC TC Team trophy on Wednesday, we were crowned BMW Motorsports 2018 Sports Trophy Team of the Year!!!," said Toby Grahovec, Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team manager and team driver. "Huge thanks to BMW Motorsports for building incredible racecars that allow us to compete week in and week out. Thanks to our sponsors - Classic BMW, Body Machine Fitness, EG Steak, Oakley, and SparcoUSA. Thanks to every crew member who has helped out throughout the year!!! It took an army at times and we all worked hard together to accomplish everything. The blood, sweat and tears make victory and these accomplishments that much sweeter!!! We look forward to building on our accomplishments and pushing for more in 2019!!!

"Also, we want to thank the crew’s families for putting up with the late nights at the shop and being on road most of the year. We could not do it without the support from our families."

And the squad’s impressive runs in 2018 North America road racing competition was not overlooked by the BMW Motorsports brass in Germany this past weekend with drivers Karl Wittmer, Grahovec and Matt Travis receiving special awards at the annual BMW Sports Awards.

Fast Track Racing scored another PWC Touring Car Team Championship with Wittmer, Travis and Jayson Clunie driving their BMW M235iR machines to second, fourth and seventh respectively in the 12-race TC division. Wittmer, in the No. 91 Classic BMW BMW M235iR, recorded two wins (Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen Internationals) as well as seven podium finishes. The Montreal, Que., Canada driver just missed the TC title by four points. Daren Jorgensen and C.J. Lett also scored TC points for Fast Track Racing in 2018.

In addition, BMW Motorsports captured the PWC TC Manufacturers’ championship in 2018.

In the PWC GTS division, the team of Grahovec and Chris Ohmacht scored two GTSA SprintX class victories this year with the No. 92 ETF Global/CAO/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 taking the checkered flags at VIRginia International Raceway and Utah Motorsports Campus. The Grahovec/Ohmacht tandem placed third in the final GTSA SprintX points. Grahovec also scored a second place in the streets of St. Petersburg in the GTSA division with his No. 26 Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4.

Recording a GTS Pro-Am podium this year for Fast Track Racing was the No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 entry of Justin Raphael and Stevan McAleer at the controls in an impressive second place against a superb field at Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

In the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW contingent was impressive with a second place at Sebring with Grahovec and Clunie as well as a fourth at Daytona with Mike Vess, Jason Hart and Grahovec in BMW M4 GT4 machines. The Plano, Texas-based squad also recorded IMSA points with Ray Mason driving at Mid-Ohio in May.

Rounding out the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW top performances was the five-driver team of Vess, Hart, Travis, Andrew Davis and Curt Swearingin combined for the GT4 Class victory at the COTA in the 2018 Hankook 24HSeries Championship of the Continents sports car classic in November.

Another highlight for the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team was longtime team member Yuki Tsutsumi being honored for the prestigious Pirelli World Challenge Jerome Zimmermann Cup, named for the late RealTime Racing crew chief and awarded to annually to the crew member who exemplifies the passion, dedication and success which Zimmerman displayed in World Challenge competition.

Earlier this year, Tsutsumi wanted to give one of his best friends the greatest gift possible - the gift of life. Yuki knew his close friend, Stephen Mensch, was suffering from PSC (primary sclerosing cholangitis), a long-term liver disease that would be fatal without a liver transplant.

Tsutsumi donated some 70 per cent of his liver to Mensch and both are doing well after the nine-hour surgery for Yuki and the ten-hour transplant for Mensch.

The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team now prepares its BMW M4 GT4 and BMW M240iR sports cars this winter for its 2019 racing tour in the Pirelli GT4 America, TC America and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW Pirelli GT4 America SprintX Lineup Set with two BMW M4 GT4 Machines

BMW World Sports Trophy Team of the Year to field Grahovec/Ohmacht duo and Raphael/McAleer pair in Pirelli GT4 America SprintX road racing series

PLANO, Tex. – The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team, winners of the prestigious worldwide BMW World Sports Trophy in 2018, today announced its 2019 driver lineup for the Pirelli GT4 America road racing series featuring two BMW M4 GT4 sports cars in SprintX competition.

The Texas-based racing organization will field the No. 92 EFI Global/CAO/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 race car for drivers Toby Grahovec of Celina, Tex., and Chris Ohmacht of Franklin Lakes, N.J., in the SprintX Pro-Am division as well as the No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 machine for the duo of Justin Raphael of also Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Scotland native Stevan McAleer of Cold Spring, N.Y., in the Pro-Am category.

Both tandems were successful in last year’s debut of the potent BMW M4 GT4 sports car in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS category (now known as Pirelli GT4 America).

In 2018, the Grahovec/Ohmacht pair recorded two GTSA SprintX class victories in the No. 92 ETF Global/CAO/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4, one at VIRginia International Raceway and the other at Utah Motorsports Campus. The Grahovec/Ohmacht tandem placed third in the final 2018 GTSA SprintX Championship.

Last year, the No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 entry of Raphael/McAleer battled in the very competitive Pro-Am class and scored an impressive second place at COTA as well as strong performance at Portland International Raceway.

Classic BMW became the first American-based team to win the esteemed BMW World Sports Trophy team championship in 2018, halting the four-year domination of the Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport organization. The new BMW M4 GT4 came from the factory as a very competitive race car and ready to compete at the highest level. This led to immediate success and prestigious honor for Fast Track Racing in 2018.

The opening race for the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team is scheduled for March 1-3 at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

The Fast Track Racing GT4 competitors are anxious for the kickoff event at COTA after a strong opening campaign in 2018, and the Classic BMW squad will also field BMW M240iR sedans in the Touring Car division at the Austin, Tex., racing facility.

I’m very excited to be returning to Classic BMW/Fast Track Racing for the 2019 season. Hopefully Toby and I will be able to continue the success we had last season, particularly now that we have a year of experience with the car to build upon. As always, I’m sure that there will be some tough competition, but I’m confident we will have a strong team this year. I can’t wait for the COTA season opener in just few weeks!

CHRIS OHMACHT

No. 92 EFI Global/CAO/Classic BMW

BMW M4 GT4

Chris and I enjoyed a very good opening year in 2018 together with the all-new BMW M4 GT4 from Fast Track Racing and Classic BMW. It was a learning experience in the new M4, but the car was outstanding since the first testing session. We were able to score two wins last year and finish third in the final points. The overall performance of the BMW M4 GT4 helped Fast Track Racing and Classic BMW capture the incredible BMW Sports Trophy awarded to the top BMW Customer team in the world. Now, we want to improve on last year’s showings beginning with the COTA weekend, since we call it our home track.

TOBY GRAHOVEC

BMW M4 GT4

My teammate Stevan McAleer and I are very excited to return to the GT4 SprintX series for the 2019 season. We believe they have made some positive changes to the series and we are looking forward to being a part of it. Likewise, we are thrilled to continue our relationship with Fast Track Racing and Classic BWM which has been a stellar partner. It should be a thrilling season!

JUSTIN RAPHAEL

No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW

BMW M4 GT4

I’m super excited to be back for the Pirelli GT4 America Series with Justin Raphael and the Classic BMW group. I have been working with Justin and Chris for four years now and was very proud to see Chris podium P3 in the season points in the GTSA class last year. The highlight of my season was Justin and myself leading most of the opening round at COTA and winding up our season best finish of P2. The two guys have come a long way with their driving, but now we come into the season with higher expectations. Podiums are amazing but consistency is key to the Championship and that’s where we lacked last year. So, the focus is to finish every race. We will have the speed and think the tracks this year will suit the Classic BMW BMW M4 well. We want to execute pit stops and keep our nose clean each weekend. I can’t wait to get going in just under a month.
